HHA kicks off its Walking Woollahra series with a stroll through the gracious suburb of Point Piper.

Known for its exclusivity, prestigious property and world-class views, the point was once the location of Henrietta Villa and two mansions known as Woollahra House (the second demolished in 1929).

HHA's Nick Jordan leads a tribute to the book of the same name by Glynde Nesta Griffiths, first published in 1947, and focuses on the prized northern end - Wolseley, Wyuna and Wunulla Roads. Hear stories of scientists, artists, explorers, sportsmen and a famous cartoon character, as well as today's billionaires!

This walking series has been made possible thanks to a Placemaking Grant from Woollahra Municipal Council.

Dr Ian Hoskins, North Sydney Council historian, leads an in-depth examination of the career of Bertrand James Waterhouse (1876-1965), who was regarded as one of the most outstanding residential architects in Sydney in the early 20th century.

We begin with a lecture at May Gibbs' Nutcote followed by a walk to take in examples of Waterhouse's work in the locale.

Waterhouse's work on domestic architecture, found in the Neutral Bay and Cremorne areas, shows an early following of the Arts & Crafts Movement.

'Nutcote' was designed in the early 1920s and is a wonderful example of his later interest in a more Mediterranean style, influenced by travels he took back to Britain and in particular, Spain.

Be sure to book now to avoid missing a spot at this always popular tour.
